"Worked with Ed. Problem reported by EU - Bill that guest rooms are getting an error message that ' this service could not be charged to the room ' when guests try to access the wifi or LAN network from their room, Stephanie in back office has problems when accessing Marriott network, a couple of other back office users have very slow internet, Patrick - Maint. office showed several rooms are down and also he has extremely slow computer and Ed said some AP's are down and there are connectivity issues. Worked with Ed. checked out the 48 port Cisco core switch, traced ports and cables going down to the uplinked 8 port Cisco switch downstairs then and the powered serial adapter and the port where this part of the network is connected. Switched the port from 7 to 2 and rebooted - tested out everything seems functional. They are going to keep an eye on the network. If it goes again then the switch is bad else just port 7 maybe defective."
"Also figured out that back office pc's and network is handled by a different department so Ed said just to inform the EU's of that we do not have administrative rights or access to them and they have to call the backoffice support desk. Completed work , left voicemail on Carols and then talked to Mike and updated him. Due to thunderstorms or similar reasons the switches often develop bad ports or a whole switch could go bad. Switching to open ports and resolving connectivity issues is a common practice besides bad cables and jacks."

"Someone had installed the new switch but could not configure it and hence the whole network of the hotel was down. Remote support could not access the network/server. "
"Troubleshooted the switch configuration, resolved the server problem, helped establish remote support connectivity to the network. Corrected the issues with the installation of the new switch. Tested wifi network around various areas of hotel, Tied up the network rack which was about to fall down backwards. It has about 30 devices and no foundation bolts. Talked to the hotel maintenance engineer after consulting Dan and Chad and they are going to fix the network rack to the floor - gave him proper requirements for access in front and back of the devices for serviceability. Completed work. "
